My Art Club created many wonderful vessels this year and we talked about what we carry inside our vessels and what they have been designed for - their purpose. We wanted to also make a display to make people aware of the growing epidemic of homelessness in our county, knowing it was all over the nation.
So, we created a life-size sculpture of a family, depicting relationships in an intimate way. We wrote statistics and facts about the homelessness in our county.
The Father figure is trying to provide shelter and protect his family. The Mother is surrounding their Child, offering comfort and security. The Child is holding a bowl, hoping for help.
The bowl was taken and the donations were counted and then given to a local charity.
This was displayed at our Spring Art Showcase. Needless to say, it was impactful and they were proud to make others aware.
