In this painting a gilded cage symbolizes mediocrity, God's good, or false glory. So many times we will stay in this cage and think we have arrived. With the true colors of God's glory hidden under folded wings, we will never display what He has intended us to be because of contentment for God's good, not His best. We need to have eyes like a dove, which are set for focus, on Him and Him alone.
