During lockdown, a sweet rooster wandered into our yard. He took a liking to us, so we decided to adopt him. He was free to come and go, He especially loved our back porch and food we put out for him each morning.
Then, one day, “Henry” started squawking and carrying on. When I reached out to my chicken friends, they told me that “Henry” was not a rooster, but a “Henrietta,” and that was her “egg song.” When I asked where she laid her eggs, they said, “You have to find them.”
Well, we had two acres - half of it wooded - and the thought of us finding Henry’s eggs was daunting, until one day, my precious daughter saw where she was laying her eggs…in the hammock!
